About us

The Museum of Svätý Anton is located in the village of Svätý Anton, in the heart of the Štiavnica Hills, at the border between Sitno Highlands (west) and Skalka (east). It belongs to the Banská Štiavnica district in the Banská Bystrica region of central Slovakia. Until 1996, the village was also known as Antol. The first written mention of the village dates back to 1266, and its name is derived from the patronage of an older church dedicated to St. Anthony the Hermit.

The museum is housed in an impressive manor house in Baroque-Classical style, surrounded by a beautiful English park. The manor house was built on the site of a medieval fortified castle from the 15th century and has undergone several reconstructions throughout its history. Since 1985, the manor in Svätý Anton has been declared a national cultural monument and, together with the adjacent park, is open to the public.
