Predná Hora

The representative hunting lodge was purchased by the Bulgarian Tsar Ferdinand Coburg at the beginning of the 20th century at a hunting exhibition in Vienna. He located the construction of this lodge in the area of Predná Hora, a place he loved so much and visited even as the Bulgarian Tsar.

This was a place for his relaxation and his greatest life passions – hunting and botany. At the beginning of the 20th century, he also started building a castle here (the current building of OLÚP, n.o.), but he did not manage to complete it. Visitors will learn facts about the life and history of the Ferdinand Coburg family through an engaging commentary and a tour of five rooms. You will see, for example, the place where Ferdinand Coburg received official visits, his working desk, a collection of family photographs, and watercolors by Arno Müller.

Here are copies of graphic prints by the German painter and engraver Johann Elias Ridinger. His graphics were popular among the nobility and decorated many castles, manor houses, and estates of the lower nobility. There is also a display case with artistic products made from antler, boar tusks, and other items with a hunting theme.
